PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a six cycle engine capable of reducing a fuel consumption amount by eliminating a pumping loss. SOLUTION: The six cycle engine 10 which reciprocates a piston in a cylinder 15 while rotating a crankshaft three times and executes an intake stroke, a compression stroke, an expansion stroke and an exhaust stroke has an ignition control part 173 for performing ignition when rotating the crankshaft almost once or twice from a starting point of the intake stroke and contains a halting cycle between the intake stroke and the exhaust stroke. The cylinder 15 in the engine is provided with a temperature sensor 174 and the ignition control part 173 for controlling the ignition timing of an ignition plug 23.
