The present invention relates to a method and device for distinguishing single touch from multiple touches. The invention includes: obtaining a pair of values according to the touch related sensing information which involves a single zero-crossing, calculating a pair of centroid positions based on the pair of values, and judging whether there is a single touch or there are multiple touches according to the distance between the pair of centroid positions.
