PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To add a user limiting function using a card with simple configuration even in a low-cost apparatus.

SOLUTION: A CPU of the image forming apparatus 101 determines a port of a signal acquired from an IC card R/W in initialization processing of the connected card R/W, and controls execution or stop of an application for carrying out authentication service processing associated with the port of the signal received form the card R/W.
