PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a separator which is superior in heat resistance and useful for extending the service life of a capacitor. SOLUTION: The separator is structured of a laminate which has at least one microfiber layer and a base layer, the microfiber layer being present on one surface or both surfaces. A fiber forming the microfiber layer has an average fiber diameter of 10 to 600 nm, and the microfiber layer and the base layer each contain a polyamide fiber made of polyamide (a) structured of a dicarboxylic acid unit composed of a terephthalic acid unit and/or an isophthalic acid unit by≥60 mol% and a diamine unit composed of a hexamethylenediamine unit and a methyl pentadiamine unit by≥60 mol%.
