PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve both improvement in focus detection accuracy and high image quality of a photographed image. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus includes: an imaging part 42 having a photographing pixel group and a focus detection pixel group; an imaging control part 43 configured to perform control to read pixel signals from the photographing pixel group and the focus detection pixel group; a focus detection part 52 configured to perform focus detection introducing a phase difference detection system based on the pixel signal read from the focus detection pixel group; an actuator 70 configured to move the imaging part 42 in a direction perpendicular to the optical axis; an actuator control part 51 configured to shift the pixels by means of the actuator 70; and an image data generation part 55 configured to generate image data in which the corresponding photographing pixel signal is interpolated in a position of the focus detection pixel before the pixel shift by compounding the pixel signal read from the photographing pixel group before the pixel shift and the image signal read from the photographing pixel group after the pixel shift.
