PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve a method for correctly estimating a current battery state of a lead storage battery deteriorated after a certain time period of use in addition to a new battery, and a lead storage battery of long-lifetime and cost reduction by using correctly-obtained information on the battery state. SOLUTION: A storage battery device comprises: the storage battery; a terminal voltage measuring section for measuring a terminal voltage of the storage battery; a current measuring section for measuring a current flowing through the storage battery; a multidimensional characteristic model for preparing a plurality of relationship models among the measured terminal voltage, the current and the battery state at respective degradation levels; a degradation level estimating section for estimating the current degradation level of the storage battery; a relevant model selecting section for selecting the relevant model from the multidimensional characteristic model based on the degradation level obtained by the degradation level estimating section; and a battery state estimating section for estimating the current battery state by using the model selected from the model selecting section.
