PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rice cooker cooking up rice glossy and glutinous and a control method of the rice cooker. SOLUTION: A control section 8 drives a heater 12 and an agitating blade 136 for agitating the immersed rice using the temperature measured by a temperature sensor 9 and a control program responding to inputting the information of the start command of a cooking process from an operation section 94. The period when the agitating blade 136 is driven is set in the period after starting a rice cooking process to the temperature measured by the temperature sensor 9 rises by heating and the gelatinization starting temperature of the rice is indicated.
