PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image recorder capable of readily and effectively suppressing a variation of density in a record image caused by a variation in the ejection performance of recording elements, and to provide a method of recording an image. SOLUTION: Output density data indicative of recording density at each recording element is acquired (S12), the output information of the recording element is obtained in accordance with the output density data (S14) and characteristic information at a normal state of the recording element is predetermined and stored in a memory. The ejection information is compared with the characteristic information by the recording element (S18), a content for a correction process to the ejection control of a target recording element is changed in accordance with the comparison result (S20, S22), and then correction with respect to the ejection control of the target recording element is performed based on the content of the changed correction process.
