PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for creating profiles for a plurality of print media without preparing a plurality of objective functions or spectral printing models. SOLUTION: This method includes execution of: smoothing processing for smoothing the distribution of a plurality of grids of an independent color system for equipment, and optimization processing for determining an ink amount at which a color value indicated by the plurality of smoothed grids is reproduced by a basic print medium by optimization using an objective function for evaluating the image quality when an ink adheres to the basic print medium; and defining the correspondence relation between the ink amount obtained by converting the ink amount determined by the smoothing processing and the optimization processing by using a conversion function based on the color development characteristic of ink in the basic print medium and the color development characteristic of ink in a diverted print medium different from the basic print medium, and the color value of a grid corresponding to the ink amount.
