PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication module without the need of managing a communication address of each communication module at the time of manufacturing of a communication system. SOLUTION: A communication module 201 performs communication using a current I flowing through a predetermined current route between a power supply 110 and a potential point having a reference potential V0. The communication module 201 includes terminals 211 and 212, a communication circuit 220, a potential information acquisition portion 270, and a processor 250. The terminals 211 and 212 are provided in the current route. The communication circuit 220 is connected to the terminals 211 and 212. The potential information acquisition portion 270 acquires information A211 about potential V212 of the terminal 212. The processor 250 distinguishes a connection order of the communication module 201, based on the information A211 acquired by the potential information acquisition portion 270, and utilizes the acquired connection ranking as a communication address.
