Disclosed is a highly reliable relief pattern detection device (1), wherein the relief pattern detection device (1) is provided with a slant FOP (3) having an input end surface (4) in contact with the surface of the object to be detected and an output end surface (5) that is substantially parallel to the input end surface (4); an illumination source (10) for illuminating light onto the output end surface (5), arranged on the output end surface (5) side of the slant FOP (3); and a CCD camera (11) for detecting a relief pattern on the basis of light emitted from the output end surface (5), arranged on the output end surface (5) side of the slant FOP (3); wherein the optical axis Rf of the optical fiber (6) is slanted so as to form a first angle a of less than 90°in one direction around from the output end surface (5) in a predetermined plane that is substantially perpendicular to the output end surface (5), and the illumination source (10) illuminates light onto the output end surface (5) from a direction forming a second angle ß of less than 90°in another direction around from the output end surface (5) in the predetermined plane. Here, the first angle a and the second angle ß are set so that the light that enters the core (8) of the optical fiber (6) from the output end surface (5) enters into the cladding (9). |
