The warning device (100) has a determining device (115) for determining of a length of a distance section. The determining device is formed for determining another length of the distance section for overhauling process. A warning apparatus (140) is provided for emitting driver warning if the former length is smaller than the latter length. An independent claim is also included for a method for preparing a warning before an uncertain overhauling process at a driver of a motor vehicle.
