1,026,301. Magnetic switches. REGIE NATIONALE DES USINES RENAULT. Dec. 18, 1962 [Dec. 19, 1961; Nov. 15, 1962], No. 47760/62. Heading H2B. A small cut-out comprising a magnetic blade pivoted between two permanent magnets to have two stable positions, from one of which it can be moved to the other by energization of a coil surrounding part of the blade, has series contacts opened by the movement of the blade to said other stable position but not until the blade has travelled to a position from which it will continue to move to said other stable position when the current is interrupted. The blade is reset by direct mechanical actuation or a second coil may be provided for electrical resetting. In the embodiments of Figs. 1 and 2 (not shown) the blade carries one contact and the co-operating contact is mounted on a leaf spring of suitable resilience to prevent breaking of the circuit until the blade has passed " dead centre ". In the embodiments of Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown) separate contacts are operated after sufficient lost motion travel of the blade. In the embodiments of Figs. 5, 6 and 7 (not shown) the blade is centrally pivoted to move between two magnets on either side. The latter embodiment has auxiliary windings in series with a rectifier and a Zener diode respectively to render it sensitive to reversed polarity and voltage of supply. The magnets are made of barium ferrite to provide temperature compensation of operating current. |
