PURPOSE: A rail type ship transportation apparatus and method are provided to improve the efficiency of transportation and construction of a ship. CONSTITUTION: A rail type ship transportation apparatus comprises a body(110) in which a ship or block is settled, a front axle(120) which is fitted with wheels and can rotate in the horizontal direction, a rear axle(130) fitted with wheels, a supporting board(140), a cylinder(150) which transfers the supporting board up and down, a supporting body(160) in which wheels(162) are installed on the bottom and an elevating cylinder(161) connected to a lower side of the body is installed on the top, a rail(170) which moves up and down by the up and down motion of the elevating cylinder, and a drive member which moves the rail back and forth.
