1,098,205. Vending apparatus. TATEISI ELECTRONICS CO. July 18, 1966 [July 29, 1965], No. 32229/66. Heading G4V. A vending machine adapted to receive a tape cassette 20, is freed for operation on receiving an appropriate length of tape from the cassette, the tape having credit markings along its length or a given credit value per unit length. The tape carries magnetic or shaded marks or perforations. The free end of the tape is held by felt pads 24 and rests on a shoulder 25 of the cassette. A feed roller 34 is driven by a motor 53 when a switch 39 is closed by the cassette and one of the article or service selecting buttons 41a-41e is depressed. Operation of a button 41a-41e pulses a counter 43 to apply an input to the AND gate 45a-45e corresponding to the price of the article or service. A counter 44 is stepped by the passage of the tape past a detector 37 to apply inputs to the AND gates 45a-45e in turn. On receiving inputs from both counters, an AND gate fires to change over flip-flop 51 and stop motor 53. In addition the article or service release means 47 is operated and the cutting means 38 energized to sever the tape from the reel. Alternatively, rotation of a pointer over a fixed price scale by a customer feeds the tape into the vending machine. |
