<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sintered body of zirconia particularly suitable for a dental material because of excellence in strength, translucency and resistance to hydrothermal degradation. <P>SOLUTION: There is provided the sintered body of zirconia including yttria of 3-5.5 mol% characterized in that (1) the apparent porosity is 1% or lower, (2) the number of pores having a pore diameter of 10 μm or larger is 30 or less in an area of 2 mm×2 mm of a sample flake of 0.2 mm in thickness, and (3) the mean crystal-particle diameter is 0.2-1 μm.
