<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a 90° hybrid for polarizing multiplex light coherent communication that can be miniaturized. <P>SOLUTION: The 90° hybrid for polarizing multiplex light coherent communication is miniaturized by inserting a photonic crystal polarizer having polarizing separation action capable of selecting the transmission axis direction for each region, and a photonic crystal wavelength plate having polarizing rotation action capable of selecting the slow phase axis direction for each region into a waveguide of a quartz-based optical waveguide chip. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
