<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus that makes image quality adjustment processing on an image signal according to a change in an illumination environment, and also makes control so as to shorten image quality adjustment time when a user changes the illumination environment. <P>SOLUTION: A control unit 105 determines, based on a measurement result obtained by a time measurement unit 104, whether change timing of an external light detected and determined by an external light detection unit 102 and an external light change determination unit 103 is before predetermined time elapses after an input switching detection unit 101 detects switching.
