PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a system for effectively managing to distribute contents to a device. SOLUTION: The system has a database for storing a plurality of elements to identify devices as a hierarchical structure and for relating a content identifier with the element within the hierarchical structure, and also has a server for generating a profile of the device, including the content identifier to show the content to be given to the device after the hierarchical structure in the database is referenced. An administrator for the devices gives the content that the profile shows by using the content identifier within the profiles received from the server, holds a record for identifying the contents to be given to the devices in accordance with the profile, and then, when a succeeding profile is received from the server, the administrator decides a yet to be given new content and a not to be given afterward old content, by comparing the content identifier within the succeeding profile with the record, and deletes the old content, after the new content has been given to the device by using the content identifier.
