PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving machine providing a starting load of a desired certain magnitude, by stabilizing the starting load. SOLUTION: An expansion part 50c is larger than the cross-sectional area of a reduction part 50b cut in the same direction in the cross-sectional area cut in a vertical plane in the axial direction of a nail guide 50. Thus, a part of an inner surface 50A of the nail guide 50 for regulating a connecting part between the reduction part 50b and the expansion part 50c, constitutes a step part 51 forming an engaging part. The step part 51 abuts on an abutting surface being an upper end surface 2B of a head part 2A of a nail 2 inserted from the lower end of the nail guide 50. In an initial state, the step part 51 is constituted so as to be positioned under the lower end of a driver blade 41, and abuts on the step part 51 before the head part 2A of the nail 2 inserted from the lower end of the nail guide 50 abuts on the lower end of the driver blade 41.
