PURPOSE: An aldehyde hydrogenation method is provided to increase the efficiency of hydrogenation by improving selectivity through activity control and to reduce the formation of by-products. CONSTITUTION: An aldehyde hydrogenation method comprises the steps of: contacting aldehyde and hydrogen(322) with a high activity catalyst(323a); and contacting the reaction mixture with a low activity catalyst(323b). An aldehyde hydrogenation apparatus includes a hydrogenation reactor(321) in which a bilayered catalyst layer consisting of the high activity catalyst and the low activity catalyst is formed; and an aldehyde supply pipe and a hydrogen supply pipe.
