PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve a high-quality display image by improving retention characteristics and reliability in an electro-optical apparatus. SOLUTION: The electro-optical apparatus includes, on a substrate (10): a pixel electrode (9); a capacitor electrode (71) that is arranged with a capacitance insulating film (72) interposed in a lower side of the pixel electrode to form a storage capacitor (70), and has steps on the surface; and an insulating film (17) that is formed in a side of lower layer than the pixel electrode, and whose surface has a tapered shape at areas (a, b) overlapping the steps.
