PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress an increase in the thickness of an entire device while suppressing an impact on a display panel. SOLUTION: A protective plate integrated display device includes: a display panel, a protective plate disposed on the observation side of the display panel in a state that a first fixing member is interposed between the display panel and the protective plate; a surface light source disposed on the side opposite to the observation side of the display panel so as to face the display region of the display panel; a casing which includes a bottom disposed on the side opposite to the side wherein the protective plate is disposed, of the display panel and the surface light source, and an outer wall portion erected from the outer peripheral edge part of the bottom toward the protective plate and fixed to the protective plate via a second fixing member, in a state of holding the display panel and the surface light source between the casing and the protective plate; and a buffer member which is disposed to surround the periphery of the surface light source in a state of being not interposed between the bottom of the casing and the surface light source but being interposed between the bottom of the casing and the display panel and includes a base portion which is interposed between the outer peripheral edge part of a surface on the side opposite to the observation side of the display panel and the bottom of the casing to press the display panel toward the protective plate by elastic repulsive force.
