PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image bearing member-protecting agent which can be consistently supplied to an image bearing member in a sufficient amount, a protecting agent supplying device which supplies an agent to an image bearing member, a process cartridge including the supply device, an image forming apparatus including the protecting agent supplying device or the process cartridge, and an image forming method using the protecting agent supplying device, the process cartridge or the image forming apparatus. SOLUTION: The image bearing member-protecting agent 42Y which is supplied to an image bearing member 20Y for protecting the image bearing member 20Y is prepared by the compression molding of a powder containing at least a fatty acid metal salt and an inorganic lubricant where the image bearing member-protecting agent satisfies A>B, where A denotes density at ends in the longitudinal direction of the image bearing member-protecting agent and B denotes density at a central portion in the longitudinal direction.
