PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tapered roller bearing maintaining a torque reducing effect with a lubricating oil flow optimized for a long period by an oil-repelling treatment film formed on surfaces at predetermined parts of the tapered roller bearing. SOLUTION: An uneven metal oxide layer and a water-repelling and oil repelling layer are formed on the surfaces at the predetermined parts of the tapered roller bearing by the following process. The metal oxide layer is formed on the surfaces of a cage by contacting the surfaces at the predetermined parts with a first solution essentially composed of water, alkoxy metal salt, lower alcohol and metal oxide minute particles and having a pH of 6 or less and by then contacting them with a second solution containing alkali metal salt and having a pH of 11 to 13. The water-repelling and oil repelling layer is formed subsequently on the metal oxide layer by contacting the surfaces at the predetermined parts with a third solution containing a fluorine coupling agent, water and lower alcohol and having a pH of 6 or less and by then contacting them with a fourth solution containing alkali metal salt and having a pH of 11 to 13.
