PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing apparatus capable of reducing the influence of heat from a first fixing roller on an image surface while employing a simple structure, or to provide an image forming apparatus capable of forming a favorable image. SOLUTION: The fixing apparatus has: a first fixing roller pair 91 that fixes an image on transfer material S, wherein a first pressure roller 91b is disposed vertically and upwardly and a first heating roller 91a is disposed vertically and downwardly; a fixing portion suction guide 300 in which a fixing portion suction surface 302 vertically and upwardly sucks the transfer material S, which is heated by the first fixing roller pair 91, so that a surface carrying the image is directed vertically and downwardly; a second fixing roller pair 92 that fixes the image on the transfer material S guided by the fixing portion suction guide 300, wherein a second pressure roller 92b is disposed vertically and upwardly, and a second heating roller 92a is disposed vertically and downwardly; and a movement member that causes the first heating roller 91a to move vertically and downwardly.
