<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector including: a cooling structure which allow thickness reduction of a projector; and configuration for fixing an optical element. <P>SOLUTION: The projector has: liquid crystal display panels 23R and 23B being spatial optical modulators which are provided for each color light beam and modulate light according to an image signal; a cross dichroic prism 25 being a color synthesis optical system which synthesizes respective color light beams emitted from the spatial optical modulators; base material 40 on which the spatial optical modulators and the color synthesis optical system are placed; and a cover member 41 which covers a part, in which at least the spatial optical modulator is placed, out of the base material 40. The spatial optical modulators and the color synthesis optical system are fixed to the base material 40 in a state where their position are adjusted, and the base material 40 and the cover member 41 constitute a cooling duct through which cooling air, for successively cooling the spatial optical modulators for each color light beam, flows. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
