PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain orientations of a plurality of cells arranged in a macro and connection lines between cells even the orientation of the macro is changed, and to facilitate generation of macros with different orientations. SOLUTION: A design support apparatus detects an arrangement position of a terminal of a cell as an arrangement position of a first terminal from layout data of the cells used in a macro arranged in a plurality of orientations. The design support apparatus calculates the position of a second terminal of the cell used in the other orientation different from one orientation in which the first terminal is used between the plurality of orientations based on the variation from the one orientation to the other orientation and the arrangement position of the first terminal. The design support apparatus associates the arrangement position of the first terminal and the arrangement position of the second terminal with the layout data of the cells. The design support apparatus inserts a terminal in the arrangement position of the second terminal. Specifically, a via of a predetermined via layer is inserted in the arrangement position of the second terminal. The design support apparatus connects the first terminal to the second terminal.
