PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the power consumption reduction system of a digital video recorder (DVR) which operates under a power saving mode to sense an external environmental change when the DVR receives power supply from an incorporated battery, and operates for a long time by differentially utilizing the battery power source through an executing operation when performing an operation for recording the external environmental change in video data. SOLUTION: When a DVR is set to a power saving mode, a power/system control part supplies only the power required for a standby mode to a system during a preset time when a power supply part receives input of battery power supply. After the lapse of the preset time, battery power is supplied to a camera part, a data compression part and a motion sensing part. When a motion relating to video data is sensed by the motion sensing part during a time when the battery power is supplied by the power/system control part, a recording part supplies the battery power to a recording part and records video data for the preset time.
