PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus capable of properly executing red-eye correction. SOLUTION: In the image processing apparatus, a generation unit 23 extracts an R value/G value (or R value/B value) as a feature value from a correction processing object area Pe1, and generates a separation curve for separating the distribution of red red-eye pixels and the distribution of non-red red-eye pixels (or the distribution of gold red-eye pixels and the distribution of non-gold red-eye pixels) in the distribution of the R value/G value in a plane for which an R value and the R value/G value are axes (or in the distribution of the R value/B value in a plane for which the R value and the R value/B value are axes).
