PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader for suppressing penetration of ambient light between a read mechanism and a black member much more than before in acquisition of black reference data. SOLUTION: In a scanner unit that a composite machine includes, a first image sensor 31A reads a black region that a black film material 51 includes when acquiring the black reference data for black level correction. The film material 51 is provided at a position below a placement surface of FB glass 15 and over a light receiving element of the first image sensor 31A, thus suppressing penetration of ambient light between the first image sensor 31A and the film material 51 much more than when the black member is disposed on the placement surface (upper surface) of the FB glass 15.
