A portering chair (10) comprising seat means (12), a plurality of wheels (50,54), foot rest means (64) and foot rest displacement means. The foot rest means are moveable between a first, lowered position and a second, raised position by means of the foot rest displacement means, wherein the foot rest displacement means are activated by weight on the seat means (12) to move the foot rest means from the first, lowered position to the second, raised position.
