PURPOSE: A backlight unit is provided to be capable of performing local dimming in a side-view type. CONSTITUTION: Since each of light guide plates has a flat bottom side(127), the respective bottom sides of the plurality of light guide plates are disposed to be flush with one another. Accordingly, the plurality of light guide plates are easy to assemble, and the assembly property of the backlight unit can be improved. Furthermore, when the backlight unit is used for a large display device, the flat bottom surfaces contribute to achieving uniform flatness between the plurality of light guide plates. Also, the flat bottom surfaces of the light guide plates can facilitate a cutting process and an optical polishing process of the light guide plates. A light source unit(130) includes a light source(131) forming light, and a printed circuit board(132) applying a driving voltage to the light source. A plurality of light sources are mounted on the printed circuit board. |
