<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating liquid which can form an ink receiving layer excellent in ink absorbency and color development without causing the lowering of transparency, haze, adhesion with a medium to be recorded, scratch resistance or the like. <P>SOLUTION: The coating liquid for forming an ink receiving layer comprises: a phosphate modification hydrated alumina particle; a matrix forming component; and a dispersion medium where a phosphorus content in the phosphate modification hydrated alumina particle is in a range of 1-35 wt.% in terms of P<SB>2</SB>O<SB>5</SB>. The hydrated alumina particle is fiber-like pseudoboehmite alumina. The crystallite diameter of the phosphorus modification hydrated alumina particle is in a range of 30-150 angstrom, the pore volume measured by a nitrogen adsorption process is 0.8-2.5 ml/g, and the average pore diameter is in a range of 5-30 nm. The phosphorus modification hydrated alumina particle is obtained by spraying and drying the mixed dispersion of a hydrated alumina particle and a phosphorus compound. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
