PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer performing a suitable duplex printing operation according to the size of an image to be printed. SOLUTION: The printer 100 performs high-speed duplex printing of conveying paper to a re-carrier path after printing one side of the paper and printing the other side of the paper after printing the following paper that follows the paper. In performing duplex printing, the paper length of the paper is specified during the conveyance of the paper (S103). After using the paper fulfilling both conditions that the image to be printed is settled and the paper length is shorter than noted paper in relation to the size of the image to be printed, whether the number of sheets of paper that can be conveyed to a paper carrier path can be increased is determined (S104, S121).
