SUSCEPTIBILITY GENE FOR HAIR SHAPES

Disclosed are a gene polymorphism related to hair shapes, a susceptibility gene for hair shapes, and a method for assessing the genetic susceptibility of individual subjects to hair shapes. The susceptibility gene for hair shapes is a gene on the 1q32.1-1q32.2 regions (D1S249-D1S2891) of the human chromosome 1 in which an allele frequency is determined by the linkage disequilibrium analysis of a single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) marker with differing statistical significance between a group with unruly hair characteristics and a group with non-unruly hair characteristics, and which overlaps with a haplotype block comprising a base sequence represented by any of SEQ ID NO: 1-3; and is a gene that comprises either a portion or all of the base sequence in said haplotype block.
