<p>An optical communication system which converts information data into an optical signal and transmits and receives said signal is equipped with a differential encoding optical transceiver device which can correctly decode a differentially encoded signal by correctly receiving the signal regardless of whether or not the signal used has been differentially encoded. The optical transceiver device is equipped with: a digital signal processing optical transceiver (20) which converts information data into an optical signal and transmits said signal to a communication channel (2); a reception front-end unit (24) which receives the optical signal from the communication channel (2); an O/E converter (29) which converts the optical signal received from the communication channel (2) into an electrical signal; a skew correction unit (15) which corrects the lane-to-lane skew contained in the electrical signal; a differential decoder (16) which decodes the differential encoding of the skew corrected electrical signal; and a lane change/rotation unit (17) which aligns the electric signal passing through the differential decoder (16) with the lane status during transmission when there is a lane change in the communication channel (2).</p>
