The desulfurization plant for the simultaneous hydrodesulfurization and cetane number increasing of naphtha, comprises a catalyst for hydrodesulfurization and an average- to large pore zeolite catalyst for the hydrogenation of aromatic compounds contained in naphtha and olefins, and/or ring opening of naphthenes. The zeolite catalyst contains palladium (0.001-1 wt.%) and exists as a mixture with the catalyst for the hydrodesulfurization in a common fixed bed or separately in a downstream second fixed bed. Independent claims are included for (1) a method for the simultaneous hydrodesulfurization and cetane number increasing of naphtha in a desulfurization plant; (2) a method for operating a desulfurization plant; and (3) a fuel.
