Provided is a device whereby a delicate machine can, within installation site constraints, make accurate (in terms of depth) cuts on both sides of a Thomson blade (1) in an unstable orientation, allowing the formation of grooves in the processing direction with minimal pitch, thereby realizing a minimum corner-bend radius of 0.1 mm and allowing bending at a minimum inter-element distance. The provided Thomson-blade groove-forming device is provided with: a V-shaped groove guide unit (22) that comprises an automatic bending machine section (A) and a groove-forming section (B), said groove-forming section being sufficiently forwards in a position where there would be little effect from chips and being capable of cutting V-shaped grooves in both sides of the Thomson blade (1); and a support section (16), left-right movement mechanism section (10), and up-down movement mechanism section (15) that move the V-shaped groove guide unit up, down, left, and right. The Thomson blade (1) is sent from the automatic bending machine section (A) to the groove-forming section (B), V-shaped grooves are formed to the left and right in a direction perpendicular to the long direction of the Thomson blade (1), and then the Thomson blade is pulled back into the automatic bending machine section (A) and the location where the V-shaped grooves were formed is bent sharply.
