PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a load sensor having a measuring method, capable of eliminating an effect of a couple to be brought about by a load position in a strain element for a force sensor (load cell) or available for figuring out the load position, as necessary, or available for both the purposes, an easy and useful overload preventive mechanism when the strain element is used, and an appropriate groove shape for preventing a fatigue fracture caused by excessive stress concentration in a groove section which becomes a problem, when the strain element is used. SOLUTION: The load sensor has thin-walled sections having strain gauges attached to four corners thereof, and cavities forming the thin-walled section are combined with a slit. The ratio of a distance a between the two thin-walled sections, parallel to a load direction, to a distance b between the two thin-walled sections, perpendicular to the load direction, lies within a range of a:b=1:3 to 3:1.
