A method for producing a layered lithium mixed metal oxide according to the present invention comprises a step of calcining, in the presence of an inert flux composed of a chloride, a lithium mixed metal oxide raw material containing a transition metal element and a lithium element so that the molar ratio of the lithium element to the transition metal element may fall within a range of 1 or more and 2 or less.
