VOLTAGE CONTROL DEVICE FOR PROTECTING A LIGHTNING ARRESTER

Disclosed is a voltage control device for protecting a lightning arrester attached to a thyristor switched capacitor (TSC) comprised in a static VAR compensator (SVC). The voltage control device comprises: a temperature sensor for measuring and outputting the temperature produced from the lightning arrester; a processor for converting the measured temperature into an energy value and comparing the result with the value of the surge withstanding capability of the lightning arrester; and an auxiliary controller which comprises an output control interval and effects control such that the output control interval is activated in response to the comparison value from the processor and the SVC does not operate during the output control interval.
