AGENT FOR AMELIORATING TYPE-2 DIABETES, AND FOOD OR BEVERAGE CONTAINING SAME

Several attempts to utilize components derived from natural products have been tried for the purpose of ameliorating type-2 diabetes. However, no effective technique that can achieve a satisfactory effect has not been proposed yet. Then, provided is a technique for ameliorating type-2 diabetes satisfactorily by using a natural-product-derived component that has few adverse side effects. It is found that a wax mixture extracted and isolated from Kaoliang has such excellent physiological activities that the wax mixture can reduce the blood glucose level and the plasma insulin level more effectively, increase the adiponectin level, and reduce the level of resistin, which is one of adipocytokines that have been believed to induce insulin resistance, in a mouse suffering from type-2 diabetes, compared with a wax that is isolated from a plant other than Kaoliang or an animal or a higher saturated aliphatic alcohol (policosanol) which have been tried to utilize so far.
