The radiation dryer has a radiation field (14) in which multiple heat radiation sources are arranged, a temperature detecting unit arranged in the radiation field and a regulating- or control unit (30) which is functionally connected with the temperature detecting unit and the heat radiation sources. The regulating- or control unit has multiple control groups which are functionally connected with the heat radiation sources. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a radiation dryer, particularly an infrared radiation dryer.
