<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To clean harmful materials contained in an exhaust gas while promoting the circulation of an exhaust gas of an internal combustion engine. <P>SOLUTION: A six-way catalyst is provided at an end of an exhaust system of an internal combustion engine. The six-way catalyst is composed of: a tapered cylindrical accelerating cylinder 1 which is formed of a ceramic material and reamed toward the upstream side of an exhaust gas G; a cylindrical cover cylinder 2 which is formed of a ceramic material and coaxially surrounds the outside of the accelerating cylinder 1; and a branch flow port 3 opened to the accelerating cylinder 1.
