PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for industrially easily obtaining anα-(alkoxyalkyl)methacrylate applicable to various kinds of applications in high purity, especially the production method suitably applicable for the production of anα-(unsaturated alkoxyalkyl)acrylate of a useful monomer capable of providing a polymer having a ring structure in the main chain or the like by being subjected to cyclic polymerization. SOLUTION: The method for producing theα-(unsaturated alkoxyalkyl)acrylate by using an acrylate having a hydroxyalkyl group at theα-position includes carrying out an operation for removing the acrylate having the hydroxyalkyl group at theα-position by treating the crude product of theα-(alkoxyalkyl)acrylate obtained by the reaction and containing the acrylate having the hydroxyalkyl group at theα-position by treating the crude product by using an inorganic alkali.
