PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a linear electric compressor which can achieve further miniaturization while maintaining a compression capacity of a refrigerant per unit time highly, and a refrigerant circuit which is provided with the linear electric compressor. SOLUTION: A piston 27 which is provided at the linear electric compressor 100 comprises: a piston rod 29; and first and second piston heads 31, 33 which are integrally provided at both ends of the piston rod 29. The piston rod 29 has a smaller diameter than those of the first and second piston heads 31, 33. A permanent magnets 35, 37 are provided at the first and second piston heads 31, 33. A center housing 7 has a spring seat 7b between the first and second piston heads 31, 33, and there are provided the first and second coils 49, 51 located around the piston rod 29 between the spring seat 7b and the first and second piston heads 31, 33.
