PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrodeposition paint having improved rust preventive property. SOLUTION: A method of producing the electrodeposition paint containing a layered silicate includes: a process of mixing 0.01 to 1 N of formic acid aqueous solution and the layered silicate and, thereafter, leaving the mixture standing for 48 h or more; and a process of mixing an obtained layered silicate dispersion liquid with resin. According to the method of producing electrodeposition paint containing the layered silicate, the electrodeposition paint having superior rust preventive property can be obtained.
