<p>#CMT# #/CMT# The module has a sensor assembly line (10) having individual cables or filaments (14) partially surrounded by an optional casing (15) in a longitudinal extension of the line. A housing (20) has a base body (21) in which a transmitting-and/or receiving unit (61) is arranged, where the line is connected to the unit for transmission of signals. A housing section in the form of tub or channel (40) is formed at the body and has inner and outer openings. The line is guided by the openings that are closed by a sealing compound, which encloses a section of the line. #CMT# : #/CMT# An independent claim is also included for a method of manufacturing a sensor module. #CMT#USE : #/CMT# Sensor module for use as a contact sensor i.e. fiber-optic sensor in a front area of a bumper for a motor vehicle for sensing and detecting collision of the vehicle with an object i.e. pedestrian. #CMT#ADVANTAGE : #/CMT# The provision of the housing section enables sealing of the sensor module in a simple manner, while the housing section is filled with the sealing compound. The sensor module is designed in such a manner that boundary surfaces between the sensor assembly line and the housing can be reliably sealed by single operating step. The sensor module enables complete enclosing of the high capacity at the sealing compound in the housing section, so that stabilized fastening of the assembly line at the housing is enabled, thus eliminating the need for additional fastening unit, which produces a form-fit connection between the assembly line and the housing, and hence simplifying the constructional structure of the module and manufacturing the module in a simple manner.
