<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical information reading device having a teaching function, which can respond to user's application flexibly, and can establish imaging conditions simply, and to provide a method for imaging conditions. <P>SOLUTION: Teaching type selection is prompted beforehand according to application, an optimal imaging condition table is chosen from teaching table according to selected teaching type. A result is held while imaging according to imaging condition table, and then the optimal imaging conditions are chosen based on the result.
